My Sister

My sister is many things.
First and foremost, she’s not even biologically my sister. But, when I was 16 years old, she walked into my life and I was forever changed. I remember the day, it was fall because I was home from volleyball practice and had gone to the barn in my flip flops. Mom came through giving her a tour and fussed at me for wearing flip flops in the barn saying that if Tucker stepped on my foot and broke bones, my volleyball career would be over. My response? “Whatever Mom, it’s Tucker.” She stayed, moving into the house I currently occupy. She lived here for 3 years, and I have lived here for 3 years since she left, moving to PA to go to Penn State. In just over a week she will be moving back home. I could not be more thrilled.

My sister is many things.
She is a huge part of the person I am today. An influence of what I believe in, the music I listen too, my outtake on life. She taught me the art of appreciating a good tattoo. She taught me the art of telling someone to fuck off without ever really telling them. She introduced me to my all-time favorite book that changed my life. She is a large part of the reason I decided to not only be straightedge, but a vegetarian too. She helped my parents come around to the idea of tattoos and piercings so when I got them, they didn’t freak out as badly, knowing I would make sure my artist was the best. I could go on and on about all the ways she has been an amazing influence on my life.

My sister is many things.
Lover. Fighter. Strong. Compassionate. Quiet. Spontaneous. Adenturous. Well-read. Well-spoken. Vegetarian. Straightedge. Outspoken. Courageous. Fearless. Taylor Swift lover. Metal listener. Wise beyond her years. Beautiful.

My sister is many things.
But, most of all, she’s one of my best friends and I love her very much.
